1. The Collection Post – Week 06

This poster by Milton Glaser came to me from a former Grad student who worked for Milton. The poster is signed. One interesting fact is that this same image can be found on the cover of the 1984 Graphis Annual. (Sorry about the reflections, this photo was taken directly from my dinning room wall…)

  2. The Collection Post – Week 05

Here is an outstanding example of mid-century Modernism as practiced by the #design pioneer, Lester Beall. This is a copy of PM Magazine which Beall designed in 1937. I was handed this lovely piece of design history by my mentor at RIT, Prof. R. Roger Remington. While I have other issues of PM & AD magazine, this one remains closest to my heart!

  3. Week 4 – The Collection Post

This weeks post comes with a interesting #story – back in 1994, when I was researching for my thesis work I discovered the work being done by Neville Brody for FontShop International. I contacted the FontShop in the US and wanted to purchase the font sets that had been developed to date. Well, their price was way out of my meager range. What to do? I decided to call the Toronto office and l was able to get myself a serious student discount. Because of that, I purchased the first 10 Fuse “issues”. What was amazing, besides the fonts, were the posters that came with each issue. There are 4 per issue, designed by the font designer, along with single thematic poster done by Brody himself.

The above poster was done by Neville Brody for the “Crash” issue of Fuse 7 in 1993.

  4. Week 3 – The Collection Post

This weeks post is one of the more unique pieces in my collection. This poster was designed by Nancy Skolos in 1996. It announced the Reinhold-Brown Gallery’s show “Documenting Marcel”. It is printed on Neenah UV/Ultra II Translucent Columns and to try and retail the translucency of the print I had a special frame made that has a piece of glass mounted half-way between the front glass and the white backing on which the poster is mounted. (Unfortunately, the original framing was broken during one of my moves.)

  5. Week 02_The Collection Post

This weeks post is another poster from my collection. This one happened to be designed by Wolfgang Weingart in 1981 and is titled Schreibkunst. It is 90 x 128 cm and offset printed.

    Enjoy!
